Who is Gospel Run? 
 
Gospel Run is a 501c3 nonprofit community health organization that fosters health and wellness in black and brown families and communities.  Our vision is to close the health gap, change the health narrative in our families, and inspire a culture of prevention and possibility.  
 
Gospel Run is not just a community health organization.  It is a ministry and a movement that empowers people to live healthier, more active lives, and to believe they can be disruptors in their own families and communities.  
 
We partner with churches from across the region to encourage congregations to embrace health and to support each other in healthy lifestyles.  Since our 2013 launch, we’ve inspired thousands of sedentary men, women, and children to get active and believe they can be disruptors in their own families and lives

What is the Gospel Run 5K? 
 
The Gospel Run 5K is a Chicago tradition that unites churches from across the entire region to support our community in getting healthy.  It is the largest of its kind in the United States.  It is an inspiring health fellowship experience powered by faith, community, culture, and love.  Over 100 run/walk teams have formed under the Gospel Run banner.  The event is for all ages and fitness levels – from veteran athletes to first-timers! 
What is the event like? 
 
There is a 5K Walk, a 5K Run, and a Half-mile Gospel Kids Run for children ages 3 and up.  The morning includes a gospel music party in the park, live gospel music on the stage and on the race course, and refreshments.  The event is emceed and televised by NBC 5 Chicago.    
 
The stage program also includes the awards ceremony that gives trophies to the winners of the Team Competition.  Teams with 50 members or more receive a complimentary Fellowship tent.        
 
Where do my race registration fees go?   
 
Race participants receive an official timed race event, music, fellowship, runner refreshments, an official race t-shirt, and a finishers’ medal.  Gospel Run also offers a free multi-church Teams-In-Training program that extends from April through June.  Proceeds from runner registrations cover a portion of the costs of producing the event and training programs.
